Mumbai CP Ahmad Javed appointed Indian envoy to Saudi Arabia

Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmad Javed has been appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, six months after last Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao had retired.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmad Javed has been appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, six months after last Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao had retired.
The Ministry of External Affairs said Javed is expected to take up his assignment shortly. The post of Ambassador in Indian Embassy in Riyadh is lying vacant since April.
Relations between India and Saudi Arabia witnessed some strain after a Saudi diplomat was charged with confinement and rape of two Nepalese women in September. The diplomat later left India.

This week, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy joined private and public sector leaders for a second annual White House roundtable discussion about the progress made and new steps taken to curb emissions of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), potent greenhouse gases used in refrigeration and air conditioning. Administrator McCarthy announced several new actions the agency will take to help support a smooth transition to climate-friendly alternatives to HFCs.
