Fresh trouble for Radhe Maa

Claiming herself to be an incarnation of goddess Durga, controversial godwoman Radhe Maa may soon face police action for hurting religious sentiments. The High Court while admitting the petition has directed the Kapurthala police to take appropriate action against her within a period of three months.

"The court has directed SSP Kapurthala to take action against Radhe Maa if she is proven guilty within three months," petitioner's advocate Krishan Dadwal said.

The petitioner Surender Mittal had told the court that Radhe Maa by claiming to be an incarnation of goddess Durga misled the people in the name of religion. The petition also said that Radhe Maa reaches the Jagran (congregation of devouts) dressed as goddess which hurt his religious feelings. The complainant also said that he had given a written complaint to the SSP Kapurthala who did not take any action against the accused.
Surinder Mittal had earlier recorded his telephonic conversation with Radhe Maa. He had complained against Radhe Maa in August this year accusing her of bribing, threatening, torturing, seducing, hurting religious sentiments and spreading obscenity and vulgarity.

The first stethoscope

René Laennec, a French doctor and inventor was born 235 years ago today, and Google has marked his birthday with a Doodle. Dr Laennec's importance to modern medicine was guaranteed by his invention of the very first stethoscope in 1816. Here are five things you (probably) didn't know about him : 1. His first stethoscope was a rolled up piece of paper Described in his  1819 treatise  on this device, Dr Laennec invented the stethoscope while treating a young woman suffering from symptoms of heart disease. 3. The stethoscope was not his only contribution to medical science I...

"EPA is working closely with industry leaders to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, transition to climate-friendly refrigerants, and deploy advanced refrigeration technologies,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “The powerful combination of EPA’s regulatory actions and innovations emerging from the private sector have put our country on track to significantly cut HFC use and deliver on the goals of the President’s Climate Action Plan.” Among the actions announced today, EPA proposed a rule that would improve t...
