Sarathkumar files defamation case against Vishal..

CHENNAI: The bitter pre-poll theatrics to control the influential South Indian Film Actors Association took a curious turn on Friday when incumbent president R Sarathkumar initiated criminal defamation proceedings against actor Vishal.

Vishal has emerged as the face of challenge to the old guard. Actor Kamal Haasan has also been backing the younger lot which has fielded actor Nasser as presidential candidate to take on Sarathkumar.

Vishal is taking on Radha Ravi for the general secretary post.

Vishal and his team had been touring the state for several months now garnering support from stage artistes and others.

While soaking at a meeting in Salem in June, he made certain remarks against Sarathkumar for which the latter slapped a defamation notice on him.

Though a reply had been sent, Sarathkumar has now initiated defamation proceedings in the chief metropolitan magistrate at Egmore. The matter is expected to be taken up for hearing on Monday.

Lenovo has kicked off 2016 with the new Vibe K4 Note smartphone.
