Indian Super League is better than I-League, says Mumbai City FC's Subhash Singh

The first season of ISL was a huge success and so far the second edition has started on a positive note with decent fan-following on the ground and on television.
Mumbai City FC's attacker Subhash Singh is not shy in pointing out that the Indian Super League (ISL) is a better tournament than the I-League, and it is the way forward for Indian football.
"ISL is the way forward for Indian football. I-League and ISL are two different leagues. I will say ISL is better than I-League. It's an honour to play here and it gives you the opportunity to improve and from my point of view ISL is the way forward if Indian football needs to improve," the striker told IBNLive.
The first season of ISL was a huge success and so far the second edition has started on a positive note with decent fan-following on the ground and on television.
Subhash's team Mumbai has made a slow start to the tournament but the striker is confident that the team will start getting desired results in the coming matches despite the slow start. Mumbai have lost one and drawn one so far and are seventh on the points table.
"It has been a slow start so far for us, but we are all working very hard in training. We are working hard as a team on the training ground and the pitch. So hopefully we will have positive results in the upcoming matches," he said.
Despite the slow start, Mumbai have enough attack power up their sleeves. With Sunil Chettri returning after national duty, Subhash will have to fight for his place with him and their marquee player-cum-manager Nicolas Anelka.
When asked if the pressure affects him and how he sees the competition for places, the striker told IBNLive "I have to perform consistently but plus point is that I can also play as a winger despite being a striker. So I have an option to play on both the wings but the same goes with Chettri.
"Even Anelka can play everywhere. It all depends on him [coach] where he wants us to play. He is the coach and the whole team has to play according to his plan. There are no individuals here. Everyone has to fight for their place," he added.
Mumbai next take on Chennaiyin FC, who won their last match convincingly and are in better form than the team from Maharashtra.
Chennaiyin lost their first two matches but came back strongly against FC Goa. However, Subhash feels that his team is ready for the challenge.
"We are looking forward towards the new match - particularly I, and hopefully I can play up to the mark," Subhash said.
Mumbai have abundance of foreign talent in their squad and the right amount of experience.
When asked how it was like to share the dressing room with Anelka & Co, Subhash said all are great players and always ready to help.
"It has been a great experience so far sharing the dressing room with Anelka and others. It's good playing with such great players. All are very gentle and are very helpful. So it's an honour to share the same space with them," the attacker concluded.

The first stethoscope

René Laennec, a French doctor and inventor was born 235 years ago today, and Google has marked his birthday with a Doodle. Dr Laennec's importance to modern medicine was guaranteed by his invention of the very first stethoscope in 1816. Here are five things you (probably) didn't know about him : 1. Dr Laennec's stethoscope bears little semblance to the modern stethoscope. Unlike those used today, Dr Laennec's stethoscope was not a set of ear pieces connected by a plastic tube to a chest piece. His stethoscopes were simple cylinders made from wood and metal. The doctor using it would simply place it directly over the area in question and listen at the other end. 2. His first stethoscope was a rolled up piece of paper Described in his  1819 treatise  on this device, Dr Laennec invented the stethoscope while treating a young woman suffering from symptoms of heart disease. 3. The stethoscope was not his only contribution to medical science I...

Lenovo Vibe K4 Note First Impressions

Lenovo has kicked off 2016 with the new Vibe K4 Note smartphone. Those familiar with Lenovo's Note series might get puzzled with the addition of the Vibe moniker to the name, especially given the success of Lenovo K3 Note last year. Head of Product and Marketing at Lenovo Smartphones in India, Anuj Sharma, clarified that the new K4 Note has been integrated with the Vibe series of smartphones. While we are not sure if this has anything to do with the rumours that Lenovo may discontinue its Vibe range to prevent cannibalisation of Motorola sales, Sharma yet again asserted "Vibe" range is not going anywhere . Lenovo at the Delhi launch event on Tuesday also showed some statistics to show how popular the Lenovo K3 Note really is in the country. The handset was the third most searched phone in 2015, based on Google's release data for India , and the company had sold around 1.2 million units. W...
